Buckle Up for the wild new single from Helms Alee, see them at Union Transfer
Brace yourselves, because the new song you are about hear from Helms Alee might just destroy you. The roaring Washington state trio, consisting of Ben Verellen (guitar, vocals), Dana James (bass, vocals), and Hozoji Margullis (drums, vocals), has released “Tit To Toe,” the first single off their upcoming fourth studio album. Stillicide will be out September 2nd on Sergeant House.
In short, “Tit To Toe” is an absolute rager of a track that melts in-your-face shouts with a more melodic chorus to assemble a song that is a hybrid form more unique than even their past mathrock/shoegaze/metal/sludge/whatever-you-want-to-call-it efforts (I use this long description because as I surfed the interwebs for some stuff on Helms Alee, I found all of those terms used). The equation of all three members contributing to the vocals is perfectly balanced, and for just over four minutes the band throws every last molecule of themselves at you. Even coming from someone who doesn’t often dive into this genre, this is an effort that I can totally get behind.
Helms Alee is on tour this summer in support of Melvins, while also having a leg of fall dates alongside another Sergeant House act, Russian Circles. The latter set of shows includes a Philly stop at Union Transfer on Thursday, September 29th. As always, find tickets and information for the gig at the XPN Concert Calendar. Now, without further adieu, please take a listen to “Tit Toe Toe.”
