Hardwork Movement shine in their new Out of Town Films session
Philadelphia’s Hardwork Movement has been living up to its name with a very big, very busy 2016. In January, they released their debut LP, Good Problems, and months later, they signed to Chill Moody’s #nicethingsMUSIC imprint. Since then, they have become a mainstay of the Philly music scene, and just before they take to The Foundry stage tomorrow night in support of RJD2 at the XPN-curated Red Bull Sound Select party, the band has seen fit to share a new session with Out of Town Films.
Within the first ten seconds of their live rendition of “City Bars,” Hardwork Movement’s joyful nature is already more than apparent as they playfully hold up a Red Bull for the camera. The group sounds tight and energized here as MC’s Dwight “Sterling Duns” Dunston, Rob “R.B. Ricks” Ricketts, and Keenan “Rick Banks” Willis trade lines over a groovy, old school instrumental. On the more down-tempo, soulful “Wandering”, they pluck at your heartstrings as Dani Gershkoff steps out from behind the flute to join the boys on vocals.
Since forming, they’ve expanded to a whopping nine members, and watching them all feed off each other in real time is an absolute treat. Check out both tracks below, and head over to Out of Town Film’s website for a full interview with the band.
