It’s almost Father’s Day, so here’s your cake: As previewed at this year’s NonComm, Rhode Island roots rockers Deer Tick bring troubadour charm to their eighth album, Emotional Contracts. In the wake of several personal trials and tribulations, Josh Homme’s Queens of the Stone Age are reinvigorated on In Times New Roman…, their first in six years. A continuation of her loose series of tribute albums, Bettye LaVette celebrates the Randall Bramlett alongside John Mayer, Steve Winwood, and Ray Parker Jr. on LaVette!.
Announced less than 24 hours ago, ÁTTA is the first album in a decade from Iceland’s premiere post-rock outfit, Sigur Rós. Guest vocalists like Self Esteem and Jack Peñate are caught in the orbit of Django Django‘s galactic disco on the multi-part Off Planet. Detroit’s Bonny Doon follow their journey serving as Waxahatchee’s backing band with their long-awaited third album, Let There Be Music.
With stories pulled from the Quran as well as his own journal, Yusuf‘s King of a Land is a gentle offering from the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens. New Jersey singer Donna Missal explores the neon-lit nocturne on her third album, Revel.
