Beth Gibbons of Portishead shared “Reaching Out,” a single with an interactive music video from her long-awaited solo debut album Lives Outgrown. “Reaching Out” still has the soft singing and electronic funk Portishead came to be known for, but Gibbons utilizes horns along with pounding percussion to create an updated and intoxicating song.
As for the video, it shows Gibbons falling through space, passing through different stages of her life. Using your cursor, you can reach out to her, shifting the video around for different points of view. The video was designed by Weirdcore, a London-based artist who’s previously collaborated with Radiohead and Aphex Twin.
Lives Outgrown, a decade in the making, drops May 17th via Domino. Watch – and click around on – the video here. Warning: it’s trippy. Watch (without interacting) via the YouTube link below.
