Gov’t Mule
Where They’re From:
Atlanta, Georgia
Who They Are:
Formed as a side project to The Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule debuted in 1994 with a joint love for the psychedelic power trios of the late 60’s, citing Cream, Mountain, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience as some of their biggest influences. The original group was made up of Allman Brothers guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody as well as drummer Matt Abts, however with the unfortunate passing of Woody in 2000, the band transitioned into a quartet, adding Danny Louis and Andy Hess as permanent members. Gov’t Mule has since released 12 studio albums and countless live performances, entering the pantheon of other rock titans thanks to their improvisational virtuosity and unbridled rock and roll energy.
