This Is Lorelei | Artist to Watch — November 2026
Hometown: Chicago by way of St. Johnsbury, Vermont
Why They’re WXPN’s Artist To Watch: The solo project by Water From Your Eyes guitarist Nate Amos, This Is Lorelei just released its third album, The Singer in My Band, in three years. But This Is Lorelei came to life well before 2024.
Amos—whose father and sister perform as a bluegrass duo—has been dropping mixtapes and EPs under the This Is Lorelei name since 2014. While Water From Your Eyes explores glitchy electronics, fractured rhythms, and experimental pop, This Is Lorelei leans into power pop, double-tracked vocals, hazy guitars, and the kind of alt-Americana favored by MJ Lenderman. And don’t blink: keeping two acclaimed projects recording and touring (just ask Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz) is no easy feat.
You Might Know Them From: As we said, Amos is a founding member of Water From Your Eyes, which has been releasing music since 2016. But you may have heard and/or seen This Is Lorelei right here on WXPN! Amos appeared on World Cafe earlier this year when he discussed the project’s first two albums, Holo Boy and Box for Buddy, Box for Star (which has both deluxe and super deluxe versions), and played some tracks live. We’ve also been spinning two new tracks, “The Kid with the Crown” being one, regularly on air.
Amos’ collaborations with some WXPN favorites—Lenderman, Waxahatchee, Snail Mail, Momma, Tim Heidecker, SASAMI, and Jeff Tweedy—may have also caught your attention.
Fun Fact: Amos said he has to write bad songs, just to get rid of them. “Then you worry about what to do with it later,” he told World Cafe host Stephen Kallao. “But it’s gotta be done.”
Essential Tracks: “Dancing in the Club,” “Where’s Your Love Now,” “But You Just Woke Me Up,” “Oh No Now My”
Catch Them Live: Amos is bringing This Is Lorelei to the First Unitarian Church on Nov. 5. But if you haven’t scored tickets already, you’re out of luck: the gig is sold out. However, you can use this website to scoop up any tickets that might become available. After the Philly show and two New York City gigs, Amos will take This Is Lorelei on a massive tour, featuring stops in France, Portugal, Germany, Argentina, Switzerland, Chile, and more.
