Tonight’s Concert Pick: O’Death + Grandchildren at Kung Fu Necktie
Philadelphia’s own Grandchildren have been on the road with Brooklyn’s O’Death for just under a week now, and are dropping by their hometown for a stop at Kung Fu Necktie before heading up the East Coast for another week’s worth of dates. O’Death is touring in anticipation of the release of its new album, Outside, which drops April 19th on Ernest Jenning Record Co.; the quintet’s acoustic-guitar- and banjo-laden Gothic Americana should provide an interesting contrast to Grandchildren’s more rhythm-centric (but still acoustic-guitar-heavy) experimental rock. Below, you can watch the video for O’Death’s “Bugs,” which was co-directed by band members Gabe Darling and Greg Jamie (who both studied film at Purchase College, where they originally met). O’Death performs with Grandchildren and Arches at 8 p.m. at Kung Fu Necktie; tickets to the 21+ show are $10.
Also playing: Joe Pug + Strand of Oaks at Johnny Brenda’s (9 p.m., 21+, $12); The Go! Team + Dom, Cheers Elephant at Theatre Of The Living Arts (8 p.m., $25); Floor + Hawks, Fight Amp, Sadgiqacea at First Unitarian Church (7:30 p.m., all ages, $13)
