Tonight: “Ticketmasters: Panel Discussion on the Live Concert Ticketing Industry” at Drexel
Tonight, the Drexel’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design will be hosting “Ticketmasters: Panel Discussion on the Live Concert Ticketing Industry.” Featuring Josh Baron, co-author of the book Ticket Masters: The Rise of the Concert Industry and How the Public Got Scalped, the discussion will address the “evolution of the live concert ticketing industry” and ever-increasing ticket prices. Both authors will be contributing to the conversation, along with a fleet of music industry experts including Sean Agnew (of R5 Productions), David Cooper (founder of Direct to Fan ticketing platform, and who was instrumental in the 1994 Pearl Jam dispute with Ticketmaster), Jim McCafferty (director of ticketing at the Mann Center), and Tom Moon (former Philadelphia Inquirer music editor and current NPR music contributor and author). Anyone who is tired of inflated ticket prices, which is hopefully all avid concertgoers, should attend the discussion tonight. The event will take place at 7 pm at the Mitchell Auditorium; it is FREE and open to the public. For more details click here. (Thanks to The Deli Philadelphia for the heads up.) —Caitlyn Grabenstein
