New Jersey-based experimental indie rockers Delicate Steve is currently streaming their entire sophomore album Positive Force online at NPR. Positive Force is a far more laid-back album than the band’s hyper-energized debut, WONDERVISIONS. Most of the songs are blithely awash in intricate layers of almost meditative guitar licks and drum kit beats. Acoustic guitar even takes a lead for stretches, as on the title track. But songs like “Redeemer” hearken back to the vigorous, ecstatic sound of frontman Steve Marion’s previous compositions. Like WONDERVISIONS, vocals on the album are almost nonexistent. But in the playful, meticulously structured instrumentation Marion has become known for, they’re hardly necessary.

The album is available for pre-order on iTunes and will be officially released July 10th via David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label. Delicate Steve will play Union Transfer on Sunday, July 29th. Tickets to the all ages show are $15 and can be purchased here. Below, enter your email for a free download of “Afria Talks To You” from Positive Force.
