XPoNential Fest: Work Drugs brings their new wave to the River Stage (photos, audio, setlist)
Up first on the River Stage today was Philadelphia’s soothing dream pop band, Work Drugs. The shoegazing, beachy sounding group thrived on one another as well as the crowd, getting into the groove and moving to the beat. Their new album Absolute Bearing was released earlier this month, a cool, chillrock record incorporating saxophone and trumpet. They played some tunes off the record including “License to Drive”, a catchy, upbeat song that juxtaposes lo-fi aesthetic with a polished finish and ended the set with “Blue Steel” (yes, a reference to Zoolander).
