Unlocked: Download Aaron and the Spell’s “Don’t Cry”
For the folks in campground dwellings just beginning to stir at Philly Folk Festival this Saturday morning, Aaron and the Spell was perfect music to wake up to. Warm and inviting, it drifted up the hill into tent city, and entreated the crowd to come down, gather at the stage, ease into the world of the waking first with gentle soul melodies, next with emphatic soul-rock. The Spell, fronted by singer and songwriter Aaron Brown, was celebrating the release of its debut full-length Sing at the festival, and we’re featuring the album in this week’s edition of UNLOCKED, The Key’s recurring spotlight on significant new releases from Philadelphia-based artists. Tomorrow, I’ll review the eclectic, emotional record, produced by guitarist and studio guru Ross Bellenoit. Later in the week, we’ll talk to Brown about his musical evolution. Today, help yourself to an mp3 of listen to “Don’t Cry” below – thanks to Aaron, we’re making it available as an exclusive free download for the next 24 hours. UPDATE: 24 hours is up!
