Download the Memory Tapes remix of “Follow” by DIIV
Dayve Hawk must be a mind-reader. Feels like, whenever I begin to wonder what his famously-insular electropop project Memory Tapes is up to – boom, he re-emerges with a new remix, a cryptic tweet, or something showing that yes, he is still out there and musically active. Today was a good one – “After 2nd baby I had to move studio out to wood-shed in backyard,” the Jersey-based Hawk wrote. “More of a shed room producer than bedroom producer.” Ba-dum-bum. While it would be awesome if that production he speaks of means a new Memory Tapes release – last year’s Player Piano totally left me wanting more – it’s understandable if Hawk has his hands a bit too full with fatherhood to think about a full record. And honestly, the remixes he’s been cranking out lately have been solid, and enough to keep me satiated. Check out his latest below – a big-beat reworking of “Follow” by buzzing NYC jangle-pop jammers DIIV.
