At Long Last: Philebrity reveals details for its 8th Annual Belle and Sebastian Dance Party
Scotland indiepop favorites Belle and Sebastian are a fantastic favorite band to have. You can tirelessly return to the popular favorites – “Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying,” “Dirty Dream No. 2,” “Sukie in the Graveyard.” You can also get lost in an endless catalog of nuggets and obscurities – “Slow Graffiti,” anyone? “String Bean Jean”? It’s music that comforts you when you’re down, it’s music that uplifts you when you’re already happy. And the band’s new material, when it comes around, rarely disappoints. If you connect with Belle and Seb in the same way I do, then the annual Belle and Sebastain Dance Party thrown by Joey Sweeney of Philebrity is just about the best freaking night you’ll have in a given year, and today, the details just came down the wire for the 2012 edition. The 8th Annual Belle and Sebastian Dance Party happens somewhat late compared to years past – Thanksgiving night at the Old City pub National Mechanics – but I’ll take that over a year without it. Picture it; a bunch of music lovers packed in a room, nerding out over our favorite crew of Glaswegians, keeping warm and moving to the beats of records, compact discs, random YouTube clips. Make us dance, we want to surrender.
