After forming down south and cutting its teeth in the Atlanta music scene, John the Conqueror resettled in Philly last year and began kicking around town with its full-tilt electric blues boogie. Pierre Moore is a charismatic frontman, strutting the stage, ripping away at guitar licks and belting out dynamic vocals. Joining Moore are his cousin Michael Gardner, a force of nature on drums, and local guy Ryan Lynn, who brings a rumbling low end to the mix. The band’s debut self-titled long-player comes out on Alive Naturalsound Records on October 16, and on Friday it plays MilkBoy opening for Willis Earl Beal. Get a taste of the raw energy in store with the three tracks they recorded for our Key Studio Session.
