Work Drugs venture into the physical music realm with Delta (due out on vinyl next month)
This morning, Philly’s Work Drugs posted a colorful album cover and an exciting proclamation on their Facebook page: “Work Drugs – Delta … coming this November on limited edition vinyl and cd!” For a band that has released almost exclusively via Soundcloud and Bandcamp for the past year, moving into the physical format with vinyl is a big step. As longtime enthusiasts for this smooth electronic pop crew, we dropped founding member Thomas Crystal a line to get the scoop on Delta.
Crystal tells us the collection will be something of a Work Drugs “best-of” with remixed and remastered versions of favorite tracks like “License to Drive” and “Dirty Dreams,” as well as a few new tracks such as “Cursive Ground” and the title cut. He says band is planning to release the vinyl through a pay-what-you-wish pricing plan for the first 100 copies; the entire album will be limited to 250 copies, all on yellow vinyl.
Asked about crossing the vinyl divide, Crystal said “There has just been a lot of demand for the physical and I think we came to the conclusion that we wanted to release our favorites. We got it mastered professionaly and I think a lot of the songs really shine as compared to the old mixes. We also wanted to find a home for Dirty Dreams, so that will be on there as well.”
