Watch a video for “Ebony Rose” by The Lawsuits (new EP out this week, playing MilkBoy on 12/15)
Happy EP release day to Philly rootsy five-piece The Lawsuits, whose brand new Numbers EP is available for download from Bandcamp. The set might surprise those who have seen the band live, and know them as a riled-up and rowdy group of players with a country-rock flair; it’s very quiet, contemplative and quite pretty. At points, it even sounds more like a solo outing by frontman Brian Dale Allen Strouse, but that’s kind of what they’re going for. The full-length that The Lawsuits plans to release in 2013 is going to show both ends of the band – amped-up and active, as well as subdued and introspective. Lest you think the ‘Suits are completely shying away from their loose and lively personae with Numbers, check out the clip the band posed for “Ebony Rose” below. Less of a music video and more of a slideshow of comic outtakes from their recent photo shoot, it shows that, while they’re not as loud on this outing, they’re still The Lawsuits we know and love. The band’s next Philly show is on Saturday, December 15 at MilkBoy; tickets and more information are available at the XPN Concert Calendar (powered by The Swollen Fox).
