If you’re a fan of pristine psychedelic power pop you should take notice: The Montreal band Elephant Stone are returning to Philly to The Fire on Friday, December 7th with local bands Attic Dancers and Mike Bell & the Movies. This week, World Cafe host David Dye chose the band as World Cafe Next and for good reason; the band’s colorful pop brings to mind the Stone Roses, The La’s and Teenage Fanclub all with the precision melodic craft of XTC. Fronted by Rishi Dhir, who is also in demand sitar player and bassist who has recorded and toured with the Black Angels, Brian Jonestown Massacre and others, Elephant Stone releases its second full length, self-titled album next February 5th.
