Unlocked: Watch vintage home movies set to Joe D’Amico’s “Where Does the Time Go?”
The passing of days and years is a big theme on Joe D’Amico‘s latest full-length, A Short Time’s A Long Time. The things we leave behind, the things we’ve lost, the uncertainty of what’s to come and the nervousness of not knowing. “It’s allright if you’re scared,” D’Amico sings on “Where Does the Time Go?” “‘Cause baby, I’m terrified.” In a sense, its a song (and an album) about confronting those fears that come with growing into adulthood, while at the same time looking on the past with a nostalgic eye. Which is why the video for “Where Does the Time Go?” looks like it does – it’s a montage of old Super 8 home movie footage culled from the Prelinger Archives. Families that seem to date back to the 70s and 60s take boats out on the lake, run down the dunes on the beach, unwind at home on a summer afternoon – you know, all those things people used to do before the current age of smart phones and constant connectivity. Watch it below, read more about A Short Time’s A Long Time in this week’s other installments of Unlocked, and catch Joe D’Amico and his band at Kung Fu Necktie tomorrow night for the album’s release show.
