The Independent’s Day music conference returns to University of the Arts on May 11th
The Recording Academy’s Philadelphia Chapter welcomes back Independent’s Day on Saturday, May 11th. The one-day conference aims focuses on entrepreneurship in the music industry and brings top music, business and social media professionals together with local musicians for presentations, panels and a networking reception. Last year’s speakers included representatives from Red Bull Records, SoundExchange and CD Baby. GRAMMY, the power behind the conference, hopes to ignite self-motivation and creativity through the event:
In the changing music business environment, one thing is becoming more apparent: every music maker needs to view themselves as an independent business entity. It is up to them to determine how to market their skills, create revenue streams, and find a path to sustainability and success.
This year, Recording Academy members also have the opportunity to get their music critiqued by a panel – more information on submitting your work can be found here. Registration for the Saturday, May 11th event at University of the Arts’ Caplan Hall is now open here. Check out a review of last year’s event over on Hypebot.
