Download a new EP from Philly art rockers The Chairman Dances (playing Kung Fu Necktie on June 14th)
After a relatively ambitious runs of narrative / conceptual albums, Philly art rockers The Chairman Dances returned this week with a more streamlined release – which, for them, means something like a short story. The new EP Michael and the Prophetess, available as a free download, is “a song cycle steeped in biblical language and set in a fictionalized 1950s era Brooklyn.” It boasts lovely string and harp accents with some serious Sister-era Sonic Youth jagged guitar work in the mix. On the flipside is a deconstructed remix of their song “Sarah” by Chris Van. Listen to it below, download it at Bandcamp. And catch The Chairman Dances at Kung Fu Necktie on June 14th; more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
