Watch Smith Westerns perform their new song “Varsity” at Lincoln Hall (playing Union Transfer on 7/23)

Chicago’s Smith Westerns will release their new LP Soft Will next month on Mom + Pop Records with a summer tour following quickly behind.  The indie rock outfit has been rolling out the videos, teasers and singles lately in anticipation of the album, the latest being a live take of lead single “Varsity” in Chicago’s Lincoln Hall filmed by For No One TV.  The song has the pacing and cadence of Wilco and the nostalgic aesthetic of 90s high school romances, with Lincoln Hall looking somewhat like a school gym after-hours.  Smith Westerns will be in town on July 23rd at Union Transfer; tickets and information can be found here.  Watch the live version of “Varsity” below.
