Make Music Philly Spotlight: Vikesh Kapoor
Accompanied by just his guitar and harmonica, folk singer Vikesh Kapoor is a storyteller with a captivatingly gentle and unassuming stage presence. His poignant tales of ordinary men and lost love are told through a voice that seems borrowed from another era, falling in line with Johnny Flynn in its ability to be at once soothing and striking. The Philadelphia native worked the Boston music circuit before moving to Portland, Oregon where he recorded his full-length debut with Adam Selzer (M. Ward), Nate Query (The Decemberists) and Jeff Ratner (Laghorne Slim); The Ballad of Willy Robbins is set for release later this year. Vikesh Kapoor will perform at Nakey in Passyunk Square on Friday for Make Music Philly. Learn more about the day-long, multi-venue festival here.
