This Weekend: Women’s Way Benefit Concert at World Cafe Live on 7/21
World Cafe Live is hosting a benefit concert for Women’s Way, an organization working to be “a powerful voice for women.” They help and empower women of all ages through advocacy, grant-making, and public education programs. Headlining the July 21st lineup is local Christine Havrilla and her Gypsy Fuzz project. Havrilla is a classic singer-songwriter originally from Philadelphia that plays with both an older folksy vibe and a modern rock twist. Check out her performance of “Falling Above” at World Cafe Live last year.
Adrien Reju, formerly of the Philly bluegrass-y outfit The Lowlands, will have a solo performance at the Women’s Way show as well. Currently based in New York, Reju released her less-folk-than-usual, more indie-pop album, Lucky Ones, in 2012. Take a listen to the breezy track “All to Myself” below.
Also playing the benefit show is Philly’s folksy singer-songwriter Teri Rambo. Rambo’s work has been features in Philly theater projects, and she is set to release her first original album this year. Below, listen to her soulful song “You Should Know This,” performed at Steel City Coffeehouse.
