Listen to “Long Drive Home” by The Lawsuits via Spin.com

Today we got another taste of Cool Cool Cool, the new long-player Philly’s The Lawsuitswill release on October 1st. “Long Drive Home,” streaming at Spin.com, is minor key, midtempo and mysterious – we heard the song when the band recorded its Key Studio Session, but it was a bit brighter and more playful there. Here, those carnival keyboards are stripped away and the beat is slowed down, coming off as something a bit more simmery and perhaps sinister – a la David Lynch’s Lost Highway. Or maybe it’s just a wearied piece about travel. Either way, you can stream the song over at Spin and compare it against the Key Session version in the HotBox Studios-produced video below. The Lawsuits celebrates the release of Cool Cool Cool on October 18th at Johnny Brenda’s with the stacked triple-bill of themselves, The Fleeting Ends and The Districts.
