The spectacular Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club playing the Merriam Theatre on October 9th
Photo by Alejandro Perez For the first time in over a decade, Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club is coming from the streets of Havana to the cities of the U.S. for a Fall world tour. Featuring original members Omar Portuondo, Guajiro Mirabal, Barbarito Torres, Eliades Ochoa, and special guest Roberto Fonseca, the thirteen piece ensemble will be bringing its Cuban beats and irresistible Havana night melodies to the Merriam Theater on Wednesday, October 9th. In 1996 the Buena Vista Social Club emerged on the international music scene with a Grammy-winning, Ry Cooder produced album and an Oscar-nominated documentary by director Wim Wenders. The Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club continues the work of the original group. Go here for tickets and more information on the show.
