Weekender signs to PaperCup Records, announces plans for a new EP
Local psych-gaze outfit Weekender have signed to Brooklyn-based indie label PaperCup Music. The four-piece, comprised of brothers Derek and Nik Sheehan, drummer Tom Anthony and bassist Emily Cahill, will re-release its debut EP Spanish Peaks (originally released on the Weekender Bandcamp this past summer) through PaperCup in November and have announced plans for a second EP, expected early next year.
Weekender grew out of the Sheehans’ band The Tweeds, which garnered attention from several large outlets including A.V. Club before they entered the studio with Cahill and Anthony to record Spanish Peaks with Kyle “Slick” Johnson at Fancy Time Studios. Listen to the title track of Spanish Peaks below.
