Saint Rich get a little rebellious in the video for “Officer” (opening for Wild Belle at the First Unitarian Church tonight)
Saint Rich, the new project from Delicate Steve bandmates Christian Peslak and Steve Marion, open for Wild Belle at the First Unitarian Church tonight. The duo released its debut full-length Beyond the Drone last week on Merge. “Officer,” the first single off of the record, is kids-against-the-authorities track that has Peslak sarcastically asking why cops always “look so mad,” postulating that they “should be happy, and you should feel good to be king of the neighborhood.” The video shows Peslak and Marion performing the song in a quiet suburban neighborhood (perhaps in their native New Jersey), following a stone-faced officer around in a somewhat taunting way. The track has the unmistakable guitar playing of Marion (who was just named one of the 30 best guitarists under 30 by Red Bull), but unlike in Delicate Steve where it’s the main voice, it is incorporated with the fully structured rock band layers and vocals in this new set up. Tickets and information for tonight’s show can be found here. Saint Rich will be back in town on November 14th to play Kung Fu Necktie.
