On Wednesday night, Ortlieb’s played host to a free early show featuring a sort of Philadelphia homecoming for Corey Duncan and his musical guise of Oh! Pears. Though he left Philly to return to his home of Seattle in 2012, the crowd on Thanksgiving Eve was quite enthralled with his solo moments and his viola and cello accompaniment.
Among the highlights was his performance of “Conjurer,” a song featured on a split 7-inch with Heyward Howkins. Duncan regaled the audience with stories of eating loads of pizza while filming the video for the song earlier in the day. Replete with folk and indie-rock stylings, Oh! Pears were a sweet early Turkey Day treat. Philly locals Katrina Bauer (aka Comes a Time) and Joey Sweeney opened.
