The Men have not stopped for a breath once in the last year. After releasing their fourth full-length New Moon last March, the Brooklyn punk band went on tour and subsequently released an EP called Campfire Songs in October. Now saddled with dozens of new songs written ahead of New Moon‘s release, The Men have curated a fifth LP, Tomorrow’s Hits, ready for release on March 4th via Sacred Bones.
“Pearly Gates” is the first single from the new record. Where New Moon showed a trend towards country punk, “Pearly Gates” has made a full transition to boisterous country rock ‘n’ roll, stepping right into a blistering instrumental passage for a full minute before the Bob Dylan-esque vocals cut in. The track benefited from being recorded live, as well as from a horn section that features periodically, throwing in a New Orleans flair. Tickets and information for The Men’s 21+ show with Ukiah Drag at Johnny Brenda’s on March 4th can be found here. Listen to “Pearly Gates” below.
