Philly musician Lizanne Knott sings for Philabundance this Sunday
This Sunday, March 9, it’s the 6th Annual Lizanne Knott & Friends Benefit concert for Philabundance. Lizanne is a wonderful singer/songwriter and much loved supporter of the Philly Local music community.
I talked with Lizanne about her yearly concert and asked her why she started it. Here’s what she said:
I wanted to do something to give back to the community in Philadelphia. Philabundance seemed like a worthy cause, well founded. There are a lot of people in need out there and it doesn’t stop after one show, so the idea of an annual thing appealed to me right from the start.
Lizanne is working in the studio on new music. I asked when she expects to release her next album.
I’m doing another Americana record which will be released on Proper/London end of summer, a gypsy inspired bunch of songs, new ones I’ve written along with a few covers that I’ve always wanted to record, a track of Jef lee Johnsons and a special song that I wrote for him. Tom Hampton and Chico Huff among a couple others, will be in the studio with me, I’m psyched.
The benefit concert will be at World Café live in Philadelphia. Doors are at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m., and more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. And remember to tune in to XPN every weekday during the 1:00 hour for my Philly Local Pick of the Day!
