The Downtown Shimmy will release Any Time, Any Place tonight at The Twisted Tail

Philadelphia-based blues quintet The Downtown Shimmy are releasing their new record Any Time, Any Place, tonight at The Twisted Tail.  The West Philly group have channeled the true soul of southern music on the LP, from the fun-loving, brass filled streets of New Orleans to the cathartic blues of Mississippi juke joints.  The record was recorded, mixed and mastered over the course of just five days before the band represented Philadelphia at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and that in-the-moment approach resulted in an authentic and genuine final product:

These tracks capture the textures, dynamics, and grooves which embed our songs. It’s the stuff that propels our music forward, and with it the feet of dancers who are the audiences we often play for. John Philip Sousa once said, “Jazz will endure just as long as people hear it through their feet instead of their brains.”
