PREMIERE: Dirty Dollhouse release live EP performed at East Coast Recording
Local three-piece Dirty Dollhouse went to Warminster’s East Coast Recording in February to record an intimate live session in front of a small audience and the resulting six songs are now available for streaming and downloading.
Built around vocalist and ukulele player Chelsea Mitchell, with Amber Twait and Vanessa Winters providing backing support, Dirty Dollhouse’s sparse but soaring compositions cut through the air with soft harmonies and undeniable talent. The EP’s opening track “Married in the Aviary” is a beautiful introduction to the captivating voice of Mitchell and her tightly crafted lyrics, with its narrative about a dream wedding and the subsequent building of a life together.
But the trio isn’t all quaint countryside notions of perfect love and romance. Towards the end of the EP we reach back-to-back performances of “Ain’t Got No Blues” and “Shake All Over” that show a spunkier, swaggier and “independent woman” side to Mitchell.
