Sharon Van Etten shares an ominously beautiful new track “Every Time The Sun Comes Up”

Not many singer-songwriters can do dark and whimsical the way Sharon Van Etten can. With her new track “Every Time The Sun Comes Up”, she rests on a slowly drawn, languid groove that finds her reflecting on what is and what will be. We don’t know exactly what will be but we do know that’s causing repeated distress and anguish as she sings “every time the sun comes up, I’m in trouble” in such a matter-of-fact way that you could argue it’s not an immediate consequence she fears but perhaps a slow descent into some unfavorable fortune.
