Governor’s Ball Day Two: The Strokes, Jack White, RJD2, Spoon, and more
Yesterday we took our places in the crowd at New York’s Randall’s Island for day two of Governor’s Ball, catching everything from garage punk to hip-hop, electronic music and bluesy rock and roll.
Nashville, Tennessee noise rockers, Diarrhea Planet brought their energy, and flexibility to the stage on Saturday afternoon.
Ramble John Krohn, aka Philly’s RJD2, tuned up the turn tables at Gov Ball. Today he’s spinning pop-up sets on the ferry to Randall’s Island.
The ladies of Lucius emerged on stage in their sequin dresses and alien-like sunglasses to a packed crowd bringing their indie pop energy. They are another band we can’t wait to see at XPoNential Fest next month.
Independent hip hop artist, Chance the Rapper played to a HUGE crowd of fans and fanatics alike, singing along the lyrics to his Acid Rap album and screaming their love for the Chicago based rapper.
English electronic duo Disclosure had just played at Union Transfer the evening before and they brought their fierce energy and danceable tunes to an amped up audience.
Everyone was super pumped once The Strokes finally came on stage and they wasted no time at all, going right into “Barely Legal” from their 2001 album, Is This It.
You can always expect a loud and booming set full of jam packed energy when Sleigh Bells is around, and that’s exactly what they delivered to their Gov Ball fans.
Legendary Austin rockers Spoon gave a superb performance.
Jack White came onto stage in a sea of blue light, running around the stage and rocking the eff out on his guitar.
