Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams released the first song off of his upcoming album Ryan Adams out September 8th through Pax-Am. It’s his first new album in three years. Following the release of 2011’s Ashes and Fire, Adams did a stellar session with David Dye for World Cafe.  Last year, he covered Sandra Boynton’s “When Pigs Fly”.

“Gimme Something Good” goes in a slightly different direction from Ashes and Fire. While both describe Adams as a man down on his luck, the new song is infused with energy. The rhythmic guitar in the background propels the track forward, while Adams’ voice pleads with the audience. It’s got a Tom Petty feel, a great new direction for Adams.

Ryan Adams is set to headline the Saturday lineup at XPoNential Festival. Get more details here. Listen to the new track below.
