Austin indie rock band Spoon returned this week with “Do You,” the first official single from their upcoming album They Want My Soul, out August 5th. This is the first album following 2010’s The Transference. The song premiered on SiriusXMU yesterday.
Last month, the band debuted “Rent I Pay” at Le Poisson Rouge for NPR Music. They also performed “Rainy Taxi” on Jimmy Kimmel. The new track lies between the slowed tempo of “Rainy Taxi” and the stomping passion of “Rent I Pay.” “Do You” is more hopeful, for a start, with more of the classic “Spoon” feel. Overall, all three songs point to yet another great album.
Catch the band at the Philly branch of the Made in America festival during Labor Day Weekend. Listen to the new track below.
