XPNFest Recap: Houndmouth’s hard rock harmonies win over the Marina Stage
The energy was high as the crowd swarmed the XPoNential Music Festival Marina Stage for midwestern rock four-piece Houndmouth. Fists were pumping and and voices were raised singing along with songs from the band’s 2013 release From the Hills Below The City.
Guitarist Matt Myers and keyboardist Katie Toupin’s voices blended in pitch-perfect country harmonies, but the winning point of this band is their knack for melding an old-timey sound with rumbling hard rock. Their single “On The Road” was a winning moment in the set; new selections “Otis Redding” and “Sedona, Arabell” also won the crowd over.
