Brooklyn art-pop outfit Lucius started off a stellar night on the River Stage with a tight set and laidback banter, backed by a setting sun reflecting off of center city across the Delaware.  Frontwomen Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig wore their “Pepto Bismol, Good ‘n’ Plenty outfits” just for Philly (check them out in the photos below) and were sincerely grateful to the XPN community for supporting them over the last year as they seriously rocked the crowd.

Wolfe and Laessig played off of each other at the front of the stage, alternating between on-point harmonies and powerful gang vocals.  The symmetrical stage presence was countered by polyrhythmic, syncopated percussion, anchored by dynamic arrangements from the rest of the band.  The slow burning “Nothing Ordinary” exploded into a classic rock guitar hit, masking the vulnerable lyrics that are carried through all of Lucius’ songs.  XPN favorite “Turn it Around” closed out the set, really getting the crowd going with a tease of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”  Check out the setlist and photos below.  Listen back to the full audio here (via the WXPN media player).
