In the midst of XPoNential Music Festival excitement a couple of weeks ago, Brooklyn-via-Philadelphia musician Gracie released his latest track “Hood Rich.”  Continuing to carry his electronic roots in a more organic direction, frontman Andrew Balasia and his new trio set-up created what the Soundcloud hashtags call “wavy” and “pop,” a song layered with eclectic synth tones and the classic, sweeping Gracie summer vibes.

The topic of “Hood Rich” seems to be the (usually) bi-weekly event of payday and what to do with the money that finds its way, albeit briefly, into your pocket.  Balasia has turned this ritual in to a love song, vowing to spend his earnings on a girl (he even dug through some sofa cushions to find a little extra).  It’s a humble and topical track that has a beautifully breezy sound to hold us over until Gracie begins work on an LP this fall.  Stream and download the “Hood Rich” below.
