Watch The War on Drugs’ dreamlike video for “Under the Pressure”
The War on Drugs turn the restless energy, intricate layers and open road feel of “Under the Pressure” into an equally vibrant and dream-like music video with the help of director Houmam.
Taken from this year’s stand out Lost in the Dream full-length, “Under the Pressure” takes things in a different direction from the record’s first video for “Red Eyes.” This one is more of a direct visual representation of the song, full of over-saturated scenes of rural houses and trees interspersed with the band members playing their respective instruments alone. The video captures the paradox of an album that was the result of a time of isolation and seclusion and the need for collaboration to make it come to life.
As the song reaches its ambient coda, the images dissolve into a kaleidoscopic visualizer that calls to mind an abstract version of the explosion scene in Zabriskie Point – volatile and soothing at the same time. Check out the video for “Under the Pressure” below.
