After a few years pursuing solo projects from books to Black Prairie, Portland-based indie-folk favorites The Decemberists are re-emerging next year with a new album and a U.S. tour. They play Philadelphia on April 7th, and tickets are on sale this week.

The band’s seventh studio album, What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World, will be released via Capitol Records on January 20th; the news was announced last month with the unveiling of a mural depicting the album cover in Brooklyn, along with an acoustic performance by frontman Colin Meloy, which you can watch here via Pitchfork. Their winter / spring tour brings The Decemberists to The Academy of Music in Philadelphia on Tuesday, April 7th and tickets are on sale this Friday, November 21st at noon.

More information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Below, check out “Make You Better,” the first single from What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World.
