Damien Rice brings new record to the Academy of Music on 4/8
Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice has announced a spring tour that brings him to the Academy of Music on April 8th. Rice, whose songs “Cannonball” and “Volcano” made appearances on the inaugural 885 All Time Greatest Songs Countdown in 2004, releases his third studio record My Favorite Faded Fantasy today.
Known for heart-wrenching lyrics and sparse, delicate instrumental arrangements, Rice took an eight-year recording hiatus following 2006’s 9 LP. In a promotional clip, Rice explains the difference between recording 9 and working on this new album:
Every time I would go to the studio it felt like a weight on my shoulder, it felt like something I was supposed to be doing instead of something that I actually really wanted to do…. And now it’s just all coming from inside, now it’s something that I want to do. It’s something I desire. And it’s very easy to do something that you desire because you’re just in a flow.
Tickets and information will be available on Friday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. here. Below, listen to “The Greatest Bastard” off of My Favorite Faded Fantasy.
