Philly indie rockers Mike Pays Heat released an EP last week called Headspace. When we first met the group back in September, after we took note of their quirky tunage and fun Youtube videos. Now, the group has collaborated with Modern Baseball bassist Ian Farmer to produce their new record, an exciting point for the band. Expanding to incorporate new sounds and musical components, the EP firmly stands it’s ground. They explained to The Key some of the elements of these new tracks that are making them more confident in their sound:

These three tunes are the most experimental we’ve been both with musical elements as well as post-production elements (thanks to Ian Farmer). We feel like we have kind of ‘found our own sound’ with all the songs that we have written thus far after these three. They are more cohesive and lend themselves more to a full-length LP, which we are beginning to get started working on.

Moving forward, Mike Pays Heat will be touring the east coast throughout this month with fellow Philly punk collective Plainview. Listen to the EP and check out their tour dates below, and head over to their Bandcamp to grab a download. More information can be found on the Mike Pays Heat Facebook page.
