Alex G’s intimate new video for “Harvey” gives us a glimpse into his world

“Success is the only thing I understand,” sings Philly’s Alex G on his introspective song “Harvey,” and you can tell he’s making strides to get there. After receiving a generous amount of press this year, Alex embarked on a long tour that took him around the U.S. and over to the UK; upon returning home, he released a new music video for “Harvey,” the single from his album DSU.

Directed by Colin Acchione, it features glimpses into Alex G’s world with shots of the artist silhouetted in light and framed by swirling clouds of his breath in the biting cold. The video is introduced and concluded with images of a burning dollhouse oftentimes obscured by shadows, perhaps hinting at the bittersweet emergence from childhood into adult life, where everyone gets a crash course in “what big boys do”.

This month Alex G sets off on another tour, again hopping across the country before revisiting the UK. He will be playing his hometown at Johnny Brenda’s tomorrow, opening for Cymbals Eat Guitars.
