Bobby Long | Photo by Cameron Pollack

UK folk artist Bobby Long played a striking and sincere show upstairs at World Cafe Live for today’s Free At Noon. The set was a mix of the old and new, the opener coming from his yet-to-be-titled crowd-funded album, followed with some of Long’s older tracks from his debut, A Winter Tale, and second, Wishbone. He jokingly commented on their central theme of death this close to the holidays, jibing “Happy holidays, everyone.” Despite the dark nature of some of Bobby Long’s songs, today’s show stayed consistently upbeat with the musician’s jesting demeanor. The artist also included a booming cover of Christina Rosetti’s holiday classic “In The Bleak Midwinter.” Earnestly thanking everyone for the support throughout the show, Long performed with candor through jangly guitar-picking and raspy, rip-roaring vocals.  As the show came to it’s close, it was clear that he was well-received by a packed audience, who whistled and cheered as Long waved a sheepish farewell and hopped off of the stage.

If you missed today’s performance, you can check out the photo gallery and listen to today’s performance from our archives below. You can also catch Bobby Long later tonight for a holiday acoustic show at World Cafe Live Upstairs. Head over to the XPN Concert Calendar for more information.
