Last Thursday the Indigo Girls filled the packed Scottish Rite Auditorium in Collingswood, NJ with their soulful folk. Making up for a rained out show they were supposed to play last summer, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers wove their gorgeous voices and expertly crafted guitar riffs into a solid 21-song set.

There were the big hits with sing along moments for “Power of Two,” “Galileo” and closing song “Closer to Fine.” There was the sound of a mandolin and banjo among multiple other guitars that they expertly strummed. Ray and Saliers traded lead vocals throughout, with their sweet-edged soundsdelighting the crowd’s ears. Violinist Lyris Hung played alongside the duo for much of the night, adding memorable textures. And opener Lucy Wainwright Roche joined them on a few songs, including “Able to Sing.”

The bitter cold of January was no match for the Indigo Girls’ warmth. With a new album on the horizon, they are certain to soon add even more songs to the memory jukeboxes of their fans.
