Jo Kusy brings new tape Giant Black Dog In the Snow to Beautiful World Syndicate next week

Jo Kusy will be performing an in-store session at Beautiful World Syndicate in East Passyunk next Friday, January 30th. The Far-Out Fangtooth guitarist released a solo cassette called Giant Black Dog In the Snowlate last year on Brooklyn label Time Castle Tapes as his primary band wrapped up a European tour.

The record is compact and darkly whimsical, with moments that teeter on beach-pop (“Spending Time”) and others that ring in with the weirdness of Ween (“Giant Black Dog In the Snow”). The pacing of “Drifters Song” is very soothing, while “Sun Umbrella” presents a brighter, more energetic side to Kusy’s musicial personality.
