Matt Scheuermann garnered our attention during his sold-out New Year’s Eve performance at Johnny Brenda’s with Hop Along. The Ohio-born, Philly-based musician plays entrancing songs under the name Roses, which came to fruition during the move from the midwest to Philly.
His self-titled release that came out Christmas Day was just picked up by Philly label Stereophonodon Records, and the three-track EP will receive its first physical pressing on Valentine’s Day. Formerly a member of Ohio rock group The Sidekicks, Scheuermann writes heartbreaking melodies comparable to acoustic tracks of Death Cab for Cutie and Elliot Smith. Pre-orders for the tape are available here.
