WXPN’s Dan Reed and The Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Dan DeLuca have teamed up to create Dan and Dan, a new podcast where the two music critics talk about current happenings in the wide world of music. The third episode came out today and it covers a range of topics, like Mumford and Sons’ new electric sound, the upcoming Firefly Music Festival and the Grateful Dead Farewell Concert.

The episode main focus is the role of the music critic in our culture today, each weighing in on why critics are important to conversation in the scene and exactly how they go about being one. The guys also touch on the positives and negatives of big time music critics like Pitchfork and Rolling Stone and later share each of their picks for song of the week.

You can check out their previous podcasts on their Soundcloud page as they discuss the Grammys in episode one and talk music retail with Main Street Music owner Pat Feeney and Sean Coakley of Songlines Music in episode two. Listen to this week’s episode below.
