With a new song making the rounds, a new album in the pipeline and a big festival tour bringing them to Seaside Heights this summer, Mumford and Sons are poised to have a pretty excellent 2015. This morning, frontman Marcus Mumford called in to the XPN Morning Show to talk with Mike Vasilikos about how they spent their year off in 2014, what it was like playing first gigs in a while, the upcoming Gentlemen of the Road tour and the hotly-debated evolution of their sound.
“It was an easy decision,” Mumford said. “It was a natural decision, an organic decision. It was not like we were like ‘we want to be a certain type of band, how do we get there?’ It was like we are this kind of band, so hopefully people will come with it. We might lose some folks and gain some folks, but we’re doing exactly what we want to do.”
